Go Green This Summer by Saving Water

Summertime is known for three things: heat, heat, and more heat! Lots of people try to battle the sun by playing in the sprinklers all day but such wasteful habits cost a ton of money and lead to droughts. There is a way to stay cool but still have an energy efficient summer and if you want to learn how, keep reading.

Save Water, Save Money

Saving water during the summer is very important because droughts can occur if we aren’t careful. Not to mention, water doesn’t grow on trees! One way to keep cool and save water is to get a kiddie pool that children can use instead of running the sprinklers all afternoon. Kiddie pools are more energy efficient because they only need to be filled once and they can be used all day while the sprinkler uses much more water if left on for hours.

You can also save water in the house by limiting the amount of times you do laundry and run the dishwasher. Many people have the nasty habit of running the dishwasher when it’s barely half full. The same goes for the washing machine. You can really save a lot of energy if you wait until the hamper is full to wash clothes and make sure the dishwasher is full before running it.

If you prefer taking baths instead of showers, you may have to put the brakes on during the summer and shower more often because filling an entire tub uses significantly more water than showering. Even little changes such as turning the water off as you brush your teeth will help you save a lot of energy this summer and in turn, you will save a lot of money.
